Our ALiCE® cell-free protein expression kits are designed with ease-of-use in mind.
Using our simple protocol will take you from reaction set-up to expressed protein in under 48 hours. All it takes is your gene-of-interest cloned into one of our vectors and the ALiCE® lysate. No additional reagents, no extra steps, and no protein-specific optimizations.

The ALiCE® Kit Workflow
-
Step 1
Thaw a tube of ALiCE® and add plasmid DNA containing your gene of interest
-
Step 2
Incubate at 25°C for 24 - 48 hours
-
Step 3
Collect your protein!
Two Pathways of Expression
The ALiCE® kit offers two routes of protein expression for ultimate flexibility:
- For the expression of simple, cytosolic proteins, the pALiCE01 vector is provided. Using this vector, a minimum of 2 mg/ml protein can be achieved.
- For expression of more complex eukaryotic proteins, delivery of your gene in the pALiCE02 vector will target your protein to the microsome (derived from Golgi and endoplasmic reticulum), for post-translational modifications.

-
A minimum of 2 g/L protein yield
-
Disulfide bonds & N–glycosylation
Think what you could do if you could produce up to 2 mg/mL of your favorite protein in under 48 hours…
The protein produced with the ALiCE® Cell-Free Protein Expression kit can be used for any application, including:
- Structural analysis experiments, including NMR and X-ray crystallography
- Protein: protein interaction studies
- Enzyme assays
- Membrane protein expression and analysis
- Protein activity screening
- Cryogenic electron microscopy
ALiCE® is available as a research kit in three different sizes: mini, midi and maxi to fit your needs.

The Technology Behind the Kit
Our cell-free protein expression kits contain our Almost Living Cell-Free Expression (ALiCE®) technology. ALiCE® is a lysate derived from eukaryotic cells and contains all of the protein expression machinery needed to produce even the most difficult-to-express proteins, including those requiring post-translational modifications.
The technology behind ALiCE®
ALiCE® is a eukaryotic cell-free protein expression harnessing the power of N. tabacum cells.
